Walk with the Lord

And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. Luke 24:15-16

Jesus draws near and walks with us in every moment. Our wounds, worries, obsessions, shame, fear, or pride may prevent us from recognizing his peaceful presence. We can learn to take quiet moments to calm our minds and open our eyes, ears, and hearts to see, hear, and know the presence of the Lord with, in, and around us.

Today I will practice awareness of the present moment. I will quiet my thoughts and listen for the peaceful voice of Jesus. I will ask him to show me the path of life and love.

Breathe

James Moriarty Fig Tree in Spring, 2005

Each breath I take is a sign of God’s Spirit within me. No matter what is happening, my breath reminds me I am always in the presence of the Lord, at home in the heart of God.

Today I will remember to breathe when I am anxious or upset. God is here.

I set the LORD ever before me;
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed. Psalm 16:8

Lord, you will show us the path of life. Psalm 16:11a

Throughout the day we have many decisions to make. When we intentionally choose words, actions, behaviors, and thoughts that reflect compassion, kindness, respect, forgiveness, and patience, we walk the way of the Lord.

Today I will keep company with the Lord as I move through the day. I will ask him to open my eyes and heart to follow the path of love.
